In sampling , sound encoded on vinyl marks the beginning of a creative process, where the live sound presence of a composer which has been recorded and pressed on a phonograph record, is now encoded on an object which the synthesist manipulates and weaves into new iterations.

'Vertical Stack' is a 13 track cassette release on Nine Iron. All tracks are one note to granular sample based compositions, with one track featuring Nonplus.
